The self-help industry has been in constant expansion for the last decade. It has now become a $10 billion dollars industry and is expected to reach $13 billion dollars by 2022, studies say.

People are most investing in their own growth today than ever, but is it truly worth it?

Some people even claim that this industry is a scam whose only purpose is to squeeze money out of people.

I’ve been investing in myself in many ways for the past few years, whether it be in books, courses or training programs. As a result, my life transformed.

I remember when I first learned about the self-help industry a few years ago. I was browsing YouTube and accidentally stumbled upon a video which changed my life forever.

Immediately, I felt compelled to watch other videos and sure enough, I spent the rest of my day watching YouTube videos.

As time went by and I felt that this industry and its products could give me what I wanted, I started to invest in myself. The results blew my mind.

It not only made me more confident, productive and happier, it had a tremendous impact on my relationships with people. Furthermore, it gave me a great understanding of human nature and behavior.

My experience made it so that I didn’t need to actually look for reasons why personal development is important, although I wish I had a list of benefits as it would have allowed me to invest in myself faster.

Below are the 7 benefits that explains why personal development is important:

1/ Results

The fact of the matter is that we all have goals and dreams. However, only a small percentage of the population actually achieve them.

According to a study, only 8% of people achieve their New Year’s Resolutions.

It goes to show that most people aren’t capable of reaching their goals and fulfilling their destiny just by experiencing life.

Unfortunately, most people don’t know how to get what they want. In fact, they don’t even know what they want and why they want it!

We need a formula, that’s going to take us from where we are to where we want to go: that formula is called personal development.

Not only does it give us a map that shows us exactly where we are and where we want to go, but it also shows us the best, easiest and most practical path on the map.

2/ Learning Curve

Why would you try to reinvent the wheel?

One of the greatest benefits of self-development is the fact that you can learn from people who’ve been through the same path you want to pursue and have succeeded.

By doing so, you will save yourself years worth of money and time that should have been spent making mistakes.

The only thing one cannot and could never buy, no matter how rich, is time.

Each dollar spent in training programs reduces your learning curve, and hence, makes mastery much faster. How valuable is that?

3/ Growth

What I love about self-improvement is that you can grow virtually any part of your life.

Do you feel like your relationships is at a crossroads? Buy a relationship course or book. Do you want to make more money online? Buy an online training program.

No matter what area of your life you want to improve – health, fitness, finances, business, relationships, spiritual, mindset… you can!

The best investment I’ve ever made was in my mindset as it translates to every area of my life: it’s what keep you going during tough times.

Recently, I’ve also invested in a Tony Robbin’s relationship program which made a significant impact on my relationship.

Growth is life ; the more you grow, and the more you’ll feel alive!

4/ Motivation

As you progress in your self-development journey, not only will you learn ways to motivate yourself, but also core principles that will help you find your true mission and values in life.

Finding your purpose will give you tremendous momentum and motivation to go after your biggest dreams and goals.

It doesn’t mean that you will not have ups and downs, but that despite how you feel, you will have the knowledge and self-self-awareness necessary to keep taking action and move towards your goals.

5/ Happiness

What’s the point in achieving if you’re not happy enough to recognize and celebrate your achievements?

The truth is that most people are achieving to be happy, whereas they should happily achieve. In my article ‘’Is Happiness A Choice?’’, I talk about the illusion of happiness which we all experienced at one point in our lives.

Unfortunately, it tends to be experienced more than once in most people’s lives and often lasts until they’re lying on their deathbed full of regrets.

As you will grow and improve all areas of your life, learn more about yourself and how to meet your own needs.. you will be happier.

6/ Better Communication

Once you learn all the great stuff about human behavior the self-help industry has to teach and what drives us.. you will naturally want to apply the information not only on yourself, but on others as well.

This often leads to better communication, which will result in better quality relationships.

Furthermore, learning how to meet other people’s needs better will positively transform the way people interact with you. Oftentimes, this also means getting what you want.

7/ Self-Awareness

Sometimes, we do things without even knowing why we do them in the first place!

Although there are times when it doesn’t matter, it can have the effect of destroying your entire life! For example, procrastination.

Most people do not know why it happens, which is why they don’t know how to deal with it.

Once you understand why you do what you do, you’ll instantly be given the tools to be able to effectively cope with it. To solve a problem is to understand it.

The more resources you will consume and the more implementation you are going to do, the more self-awareness you will have.

These Were The 7 Benefits Why Personal Development Is Important

Personal development changed my life, and it has the power to change yours as well.

You don’t need a lot of money to enter this niche, in fact you could even consume all the free content that’s available on Google & YouTube.

The only reason I don’t recommend this approach is that oftentimes, we pay less attention to free content than paid content just because of the act of investing. When you invest, your brain will be more focused on the content because it had a cost.

In other words, the more you pay and the more your brain will perceive the information as valuable.

Not only that, but the information itself is oftentimes better when it’s provided in a course than in the form of free information.

The techniques might be more practical, be of more quality or even be more structured than that of free content.

Nonetheless, if that’s your only option go for it. As for me, I started learning the free information out of my fear of being scammed by this industry, and ended up spending thousands of dollars when I realized it was the real deal. I’ve never regretted investing in myself.

Warren Buffet once said that‘’the best investment you can ever make is in yourself.’’
