Do you want to know what separates the successful from everybody else so that you don’t have to give up on your dreams?

Studies conducted at the University of Scranton have shown that only 8% of people actually achieve their goals; which leaves an astounding 92% of people failing at following through on their goals year after year.

The fact of the matter is that most people end up giving up pursuing their goals after a few weeks, let alone their dreams.

Out of this 8%, an even smaller number of people are what we could call ‘’successful”: only 3%!

I’ve always been fascinated by these differences and have taken an interest in studying those successful people’s behaviors in order to produce similar results.

Do you feel like giving up on your dreams? You don’t have to! Let’s talk about 7 differences in mindset between the successful from the poor.

1 – Resourcefulness

One common factor shared by most if not all the successful people on this planet is their ability to be resourceful at any time.

Whether it be about raising funds or succeeding in what seems like an impossible task, successful people always find a way. If they don’t find a way, they make the way.

On the contrary, the 97% of people are masters at making excuses. Their minds are filled with reasons why they can’t do something, instead of being resourceful and creative to make the way.

If we were to put the 97% and 3% in front of what seems to be an impossible-to-climb wall, there’s no doubt that the 3% would find a way to get over it whereas the rest will stay stuck. Whether they may need to climb, go under or break through the wall, the successful would do anything to get to where they want to go.

2 – Interpret Failure Differently

Contrary to popular belief, successful people do not “fail”.

They simply learn from their mistakes and move on. On the contrary, the majority of people fail, fall and never get back up. This is true failure.

The big distinction to make here is that those two types of people make two different interpretation of the same event. Although the 97% decided to view failure as a big thing, the 3% only view it as feedback.

For them, failing is just one more opportunity to learn.

Thomas Edison said it best: ‘’I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded, is another step forward.’’

3 – Keep Going

When people give up on their dreams, all it tells me is that they lack persistence and determination.

The reason why successful people are successful is because they were willing to do whatever it took; no matter how uncomfortable it made them feel.

I’m always reminded of Michael Jordan’s famous flu game in which he had to break through his limitations and physically do the impossible, or even Tiger Woods who decided to unlearn everything he knew about golf so that he not only stays the best player in the world; but primarily to become the best player in history.

Success leaves clues, and determination is one of them. Don’t give up on your dreams; Instead, understand that there will always be ups and downs and keep going.

4 – Purpose

Behind every success, there is a strong purpose. No matter what excuses you may have, succeeding is always a matter of wanting it bad enough. The highest performers always find a way because they are driven by a purpose that they refuse to give up.

Having a purpose is the fuel that will wake you up early in the morning and keep you up late at night.

The ones who give up are usually the people with the weakest why’s, those who don’t have a compelling vision for their lives.

Unless you have a strong why that’s going to make you persistent, it’s very unlikely that you’ll have enough willpower to keep moving towards your goals.

5 – Work Harder

Successful people aren’t afraid to grind to get what they want. They keep pushing past their limits because they understand that nothing of value comes without hard work.

When the majority of people are sitting on the couch watching TV, they’re still working on their goals.

6 – Delay Instant Gratification

In today’s world where one can get his needs met in a matter of seconds, it has become very difficult to have the proper mindset as the internet has conditioned us to have anything as quickly as possible.

However, most of the time, instant gratification is the surest way to walk down the path of the 97%.

Nothing of value can truly be achieved in a short period of time. Instead, it takes a lot of time, effort and persistence to master anything that has the power to change your life.

The true masters of this world understand that they might have to suffer temporarily and be patient in order to get the benefits they’re after. On the other hand, dabblers think that in order to get the results they pursue, they need to rush the process.

7 – Stretch Themselves

Stepping out of the comfort zone is often perceived as dangerous by the brain. After all, its purpose has been to protect us from threats thousands of years ago.

However, just like our specie evolved… the world around us evolved too, and isn’t as near as dangerous as it used to be.

Nowadays, most men are afraid to approach women. Is that dangerous? Is that going to get you killed? Of course not.

Life will always challenge us in some way – and in different ways, depending on your life and personality. These challenges are actually blessing in disguise: these are opportunities to grow and become a better version of ourselves.

Unfortunately, most people are unfamiliar with the concept of growth – which prevents them from approaching challenges in a fresh, new different way.

They believe that they must avoid at all costs these challenges, when these are in fact the front gate towards their goals and dreams!

We should all make it a priority to feel uncomfortable, as it is proof that we’re growing and getting closer to our desires. After all, if the person you are today was enough to get you to where you want to be, wouldn’t you already have it by now?

Don’t Give Up On Your Dreams, keep working at it!

It can sometimes be very frustrating to fail over and over again. It may even make us feel like we’re going nowhere. However, the truth is that the more you fail, the more you’re getting closer to success!

History have shown us time and time again that even the most unlucky, poorest and miserable people on the planet could turn their life around.

They didn’t give up on their dreams and made it. Why couldn’t you?
